2005 champion Lewis Hamilton (ASM F3, Dallara-Mercedes) finished his second Formula 3 Euro Series season in appropriate style, winning the 20th and final round of the season, held at the 4.574-kilometre Hockenheimring Baden Württemberg, with Guillaume Moreau (Signature, Dallara-Opel) and Sebastian Vettel (Mücke Motorsport, Dallara-Mercedes) finishing second and third respectively.
With Hamilton's team-mate Adrian Sutil secure in second place in the Formula 3 Euro Series championship, Lucas di Grassi (Manor Motorsport, Dallara-Mercedes) prevailed in the battle for third place in spite of a broken rear wheel suspension. At the end of the day, he defeated Franck Perera (Prema Powerteam, Dallara-Opel) by one point.
The third Formula 3 Euro Series season featured five different winners, with 15 of the 20 rounds having been won by the champion, Lewis Hamilton. Adrian Sutil (ASM F3 Dallara-Mercedes) clinched two wins, while James Rossiter (Signature-Plus, Dallara-Opel), Lucas di Grassi and Guillaume Moreau secured one win each.
